Skincare is a major part of my life it is really important to me & I have learnt over the years that you are never too young to start looking after your skin, you only get one at the end of the day. I feel that I have a pretty good routine, maybe a year or two ago it was more intense with the frequency of using certain products but I have to say that I have reached a point where I have so many products / brands I am a little swamped & spoilt for choice.
So I would like to talk through my current skincare routine, though I recently wrote a post called Skincare I must use up (Skincare I Must Use Up Part 1 | Beauty As I Know It) as I have found that I have been a little too spend happy the last couple of years & as a result I have accumulated a lot of products but I am finding that I am not using stuff up so I am trying to pick out certain products each month to only use for that particular month to see if I can use them up & reep from the benefits too. So please feel free to take a look to see what I am using up in January.
I have to say it has taken me a while to realise what my skin type is but I have combination skin with an oily t-zone though it is not as oily as it used to be but I put that down to using great skincare products.
My Current Routine;
Cleansing is massively important to me & as a result I own a variety of cleansers which I switch between depending on my skin concern at that particular time.

– Decleor Aroma Cleanse Cleansing Milk
– Elemis Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser
– Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm
– Good Things Deep Clean Blackhead Exfoliator
– Temple Spa Way to Go Cleasning Wash Gel
I cleanse twice a day & I always do a double cleanse too. In the mornings I tend to use a light cleanser such as the Temple Spa Way to Go or the Emma Hardie Foaming Cleanser Wash but in the evening I will tend to use either the Liz Earle or Elemis Cream Cleanser or go for a real treat using the Emma Hardie Moringa Balm. In addition to using a cleanser I do tend to use an exfoliator 1/2 times a week in the morning though it used to be more often but at the moment I do not feel I need an exfoliation every day, I love using Good Things Deep Clean Blackhead Exfoliator.
I like to mix up the way I clean my skin with my cleansers, some days I will just use my fingers or I will reach for a face cloth, Emma Hardie is my preference though Elemis do a great one too. I recently purchased two different cleansing devices, the first being the Foreo Luna Mini which I found out about through a YouTube Makeup Artist the great thing is you don’t need any brush heads so the lay out cost of the device is all you need to spend. I do love the Foreo but sometimes I feel like I need something to really make my skin feel really fresh & clean so I also picked up the Philips Visapure through Very.co.uk. I am still getting used to it but I have broken out in the last few weeks but I am not sure if it’s from using this particular cleansing device or from the poor diet I have had over the Christmas period so I am just giving my skin a break from the Visapure so I can work at getting it in order & then I will start to use this in the evenings again.
So once I have cleansed in the morning I will pop on a serum be it an oil or my Gatineau serum before I use a moisturiser. I would never go without a serum now, it adds that extra layer of hydration & goodness to the skin. It’s definitely something I have added to my routine over recent years to help against ageing & to keep my skin in tip-top condition.
After my serum I go straight to my moisturiser, at the moment I am in limbo land about which moisturiser is best for me so I am just sticking with the Decleor Hydra Floral this month which is what I have mentioned in my Skincare I Must Use Up post, once the two jars I have are completed I will need to rethink what to use next, I have options I just need to see what my skin wants / needs at that particular time.
I love facemasks & used to use them twice a week changing between what I have depending what my skin needed at that time but I appear to have lost the rhythm of using a mask each week it’s now on the basis of when I remember to do one but it’s a routine I am trying to get back into this month. Once I find my routine I will happily come back to this in a new post.
My night-time routine is quite epic I think, I have learnt that the real magic happens overnight whilst you are sleeping so I have invested in some great products here. I do change between them all because I am spoilt for choice but I am realising I need to stick to one for a few weeks then change to another.

I am currently using up my Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial Oil. I will be doing a round-up of the products I have been using up this month in another post but I never saw the appeal of the Sarah Chapman product but now I have been using it every night I now get it & I do see results it is brilliant.
I love all these products equally, every morning my skin looks plumped, hydrated, fresh & looks like I have had a good nights sleep. I tend to reach for Decleor Neroli Balm if my skin is going through a bad stage of looking congested & really lack lustre it tends to sort it out a treat. I reach for the Emma Hardie Moringa Balm if my skin is feeling a little bit parched, I will put a generous layer on my face & just let it sink in. This product is just brilliant to use a multi tasker it is not just a cleanser that’s for sure.
